for the International DUP Camp Vietnam 2024

 Registration process step-by-step

We are looking forward to seeing you in December. We aim to host 110 participants in this camp. Below are the steps to sign up for the camp. We have received a lot of interest from the community, so please register sooner than later, to make sure you reserve your spot.

Step 1 - Read the instructions below

Read carefully: About the camp; the FAQs; the principle of financial contribution; the cost of different accommodation types if you want to upgrade your standard option.

Step 2 - Choose your ticket

Choose your ticket type.

If you decide to upgrade accommodation, add the difference in the fee to your ticket price.

Step 3 - Fill in the Registration Form

Sign up for your participation and scholarship application (if needed) in our Google Form. It takes about 15-30 minutes.

Step 3 - Receive our confirmation

Wait for our email confirmation to start preparing for the trip. Feel free to contact us if you don’t hear back within 3 days.

Principle in financial contribution

The pricing for the camp is based around the guiding principle of “offer what you can and ask for what you need”, as well as honoring the value of abundance and inclusion. We aim to keep the cost as affordable as possible for all participants, while ensuring the basic logistics of organizing the camp and the honorarium for the people operating it.

We are grateful for the financial support from Beyond Initiative and the generosity of our trainers who gift their time and energy to make the camp more affordable.

OFFER WHAT YOU CAN

Firstly, we invite you to have a conversation with yourself about your capacity and willingness to contribute financially to this camp, then choose the camp ticket type that best matches you:

  • Sustainable ticket: you not only cover the camp fee but also contribute to the following:
    • Honorarium for the trainers for their hard work and wisdom;
    • Reimbursement and honorarium for the organizing team for all the behind-the-scene work;
    • Scholarship grant for the INCLUSIVITY;
    • Seed fund for the continuation of the next camp if there are abundance.
  • Basic ticket: you cover the camp fee and contribute to the following:
    • Honorarium for the trainers for their hard work and wisdom;
    • Reimbursement and honorarium for the organizing team for all the behind-the-scene work;

* The ticket you pick doesn’t affect the quality of the camp or how you are treated during the process. It also won’t be revealed to anyone else besides the organizers.

ASK FOR WHAT YOU NEED

If you cannot afford the two types of tickets, we invite you to Ask for what you need. We suggest two ways of asking for what you need in terms of financial contribution:

Firstly, let’s embrace your inner and outer assets. We invite you to practice turning inward to yourself and outward to your community, the people who know, love, and trust you. Where can you turn outward? What could you leverage in your talents and creative potential to invite support? This is the way some of our participants last year tried to fundraise for themselves to join the camp. Turning outward is also an experiment to explore our inner potential. If you need a thinking buddy on how you can turn outward, don’t hesitate to let us know.

Then, if you have tried your best and still need some direct support from us, you can:

  • Apply for our scholarship: Please note that each scholarship type has its criteria which you must meet in order to apply. (for details please check here);
  • Apply for support from DUP local circles. The local circles might support you with financial aid or powering your crowdfunding. Please reach us at dupvietnam@gmail.com, then we will connect you with the contact point at the local circles (if any).

Camp ticket

There are two types of tickets:

Sustainable ticket: 8,910,000 VND ~ USD 350

Basic ticket: 7,130,000 VND ~ USD 280

 

What does it mean?

Revisit the principle in financial contribution above.

The ticket will cover

      • Pick-up buses between the center of Hanoi and the venue:
        • Departing from the center of Hanoi at 2 PM on Dec 1st, 2024;
        • Departing from the venue after lunch on Dec 7th, 2024;
        • If you can’t join these pick-up buses, please take care of your transportation;
      • Accommodation in a dormitory stilt house hosted by local families (10 participants per small house or 15 participants per big house);
      • Food (vegetarian & vegan options available) for the whole camp, including:
        • Dec 1st: Dinner;
        • Dec 2nd – 6th: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, 1 tea break;
        • Dec 7th: Breakfast & lunch;
      • Cost for the camp venue, setting up the space, and materials during the camp.

The ticket will NOT cover

  • Transportation to and from Hanoi, Vietnam;
  • Any additional cost if you travel with family;
  • Your extra meals, drinks, and medication that are not included in our plan;
  • Your travel insurance;
  • VAT – we are not providing VAT invoice.

Accommodation

Your participation fee already includes staying in the Dormitory Stilt House. If you prefer another option, please check the price HERE and add the differences to your payment.

Scholarship

We have two types of scholarships. You need to meet the eligibility and complete the scholarship application in the Registration form. After that, we will evaluate and inform you of the result.

 

To understand the eligibility, please notice these following important terms:

Dance-leader-in-training (DLiT)

A person who has a certified DUP mentor and is registered in DUP international

DUP leading practitioner

A person who is practicing leading the DUP but has not registered with the DUP international and has not been mentored yet.

DUP organizer

A person who joins the organizing/hosting of DUP circles in local areas in Asia; this person can provide reference from a mentor and/or a local DLiT/ DUP leading practitioner.

DUP active member

A person who participates in dancing in DUP circles in local areas in Asia; this person is continuously present in DUP local circles; this person can provide reference from a mentor and/or a local DLiT/ DUP leading practitioner.

Here are the details of each scholarship type:
INCLUSIVITY

What does it offer?

The receiver of the Inclusivity scholarship will get a 50% deduction of the Sustainable ticket. It means the person will need to pay 4,455,000 VND ~ USD 175.

Who is eligible to apply?

Registrants who have all these criteria:
– DUP dancers/DUP leading practitioners/DLiT;
– Active member (with reference).

Or

– 1st time of DUP but potential to bring DUP to a local area (need to have reference/introduction and a new area is preferred);

– The priority goes to those from Asia.

Important timeline:

– Application open: June 6th, 2024.

– 1st round of application: June 6th, 2024 – August 15th, 2024;

– 2nd round of application: September 20th, 2024 – September 30th, 2024.

Or until all scholarships are already taken.

DEDICATION

What does it offer?

The receiver of the Dedication scholarship will be fully funded to join the camp.

Who is eligible to apply?

Registrants who have all these criteria:
– Active DLiT or DUP leading practitioner or DUP organizer;
– Have a reference from a DUP mentor/teacher;

This is an acknowledgment of the person’s contribution to the DUP movement, especially in Asia.
Please note that this scholarship doesn’t include transportation from your hometown to Hanoi and vice versa.

Important timeline:

– Application open: June 6th, 2024;

– Application close: 23.59 UTC+7 July 6th, 2024;

– Application result: July 15th, 2024.

  • For participants with a registered VND bank account: make a bank transfer (account information will be in the form) and attach the receipt of your bank-transferred financial contribution.
  • For participants from outside of Vietnam without a registered VND bank account: attach a confirmation of your purchased flight ticket to Vietnam. You will complete your financial contribution by paying with cash in VND at the campsite.
